Birmingham Obstetrics & Gynecology is proud to announce that Dr. Ronald Orso has been selected as a 2026 Lifetime Achievement honoree by the Birmingham Business Journal as part of its Leadership in Health Care Awards.
The annual Leadership in Health Care Awards recognize individuals and organizations for their contributions to improving healthcare throughout the Birmingham region and beyond. Honorees were selected by a Birmingham Business Journal editorial committee based on their documented accomplishments.
Dr. Orso was one of only two healthcare leaders selected for the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2026.
For Birmingham OB/Gyn, the recognition is especially meaningful because it celebrates a career dedicated to caring for women and helping build the practice that Birmingham OB/Gyn is today.
Throughout his career, Dr. Orso has cared for generations of women and families in the Birmingham community. His commitment to his patients, his colleagues and the practice of obstetrics and gynecology has left a lasting impact on Birmingham OB/Gyn and on women’s healthcare in our community.
“Dr. Orso has devoted his career to taking care of women and families in Birmingham, and we are incredibly proud to see him receive this recognition,” said David Carmichael, CEO of Birmingham OB/Gyn. “A Lifetime Achievement Award is particularly fitting because it recognizes something that cannot be measured by a single accomplishment. It represents decades of caring for patients, supporting colleagues and contributing to the medical community. Dr. Orso has helped shape Birmingham OB/Gyn, and his influence will remain part of this practice for many years to come.”
The Birmingham Business Journal will profile the award recipients in a special section in November. Dr. Orso and the other 2026 honorees will also be recognized at the Leadership in Health Care Awards ceremony on November 12 at The Harbert Center.
Congratulations, Dr. Orso, on this well-deserved recognition and an extraordinary career serving women and families throughout the Birmingham community.
